I'm very skeptical - can you please post links (I did a search on eBay and couldnt find the German seller). remember there is alot of the old Le Collezione's out there too - the Collezione collection is so huge there are many differences in construction and parts from season to season.

I could tell if it is real or not from a dim, half-blurry thumbnail pic. If they included a closeup, then it would be all over. These suits are VERY distinctive once you have had experience with them. And while there have been a few sellers who have sewn Kiton or other labels into cheap suits, this is quite rare and is not going to fool 99% of buyers.

Then you probably have never heard of Brioni or Kiton.

Sorry for your experience. There are indeed a couple of German sellers that have been selling patently fake merchandise on ebay - I have mentioned them here before.

I could believe that someone would produce fake Armani. Who hasn't heard of him? Also, as MikeF pointed out, it could be from an older line, or from a line produced for a different market. There are a lot of legit variations out there. None of which are of particularly great quality.

I don't know which Armani Collezioni suits you guys saw, but the one that I own.. quality is superb. I never tried on Kiton nor Brioni, but compare to other labels like Zegna and Canali, my Armani Collezioni super 180 suit stands out.. It sure recieves LOT of attention from people. That being said, I expect ALL Armani Collezioni suit to be in same quality (maybe not fabric but at least craftmanship is concerned). Believe me when I say this, the suit I recieved (which is currently sold on ebay still), IS NOT AUTHENTIC Armani Collezioni suit. IMHO, Armani make fine pieces, I do not know what sort of experieces you guys had with it .. I really like them.

Speak of the devil: can someone confirm if this is real? http://cgi.ebay.com/ws....43&rd=1 It claims to be Emporio Armani from a 2004 collection, but the price is too good/low for that to make sense to me. I might buy it if it comes out to be clean, but I'm really suspicious. Edit: looking through his feedback, he has a couple negatives saying that his suits are fake. 99.1%, but 4 feedbacks all report fakes. One of them says, "Sells fake Armani suits. Really good imitations, but the Logo is slightly off... "

If you had any doubt, one look inside those pants should confirm that the suit is very, very fake.

Also, as an aside: the idea of the seller having a number of current-season Emporio Armani suits makes no sense. As far as I know, Emporio Armani is still only sold through Emporio Armani boutiques. With no retailers clearing out overstock, how could he have obtained so many suits so cheaply?

I donno Emp. Armani Line. But from the picture, the suit looks real cheap. Why? When I buy my suit, the suit has to drape perfectly. This translate to the suit has to have perfect stiching along all seams.. However, this particular suit have flows on shoulder-under arm seam.. notice how its kinked and wrinkled? This may be just wrinkle which can go away with pressing .. but to me, it looks like its from unskilled craftmanship.

OK, Armani Collection suits are made by Zegna. RLPL shoes are made by E. Green. Paul Stuart suits are made by Samuelson, unless it's the Stuart's Choice in which case they're made by St. Andrews. Their shoes are made by EG. No, it's Sargent now, right? Used to be EG. Brooks Bros. shoes are mostly made by Alden, but some are made by Sargent I guess. RLPL shirts are mostly made by Lorenzini. IS THIS CONFUSING OR WHAT... I won't even get started on the shoe last number confusion -- what Tony Gaziano said, which lasts are no longer used, which are special order, etc.

Folks, I would pay good money if someone would please publish a high end men's guide to who makes what for whom.

Sure, but the cut would be different from the typical Zegna cut, and the cloth might be special cloth manufactured specifically for the Armani Collezioni collection as well.

However, the basic construction (ie: fused) is the same.

A worthy cause of suspicion. This is mainly the reason I brought it up. It's a shame.

Maybe they fell off the back of a truck? There was a great little segment in "The Sopranos" a couple of seasons back where the guys hijacked a shipment of high-end suits; and at one point in the episode, Tony tells Carmela that he got a Vestimenta suit at a great deal.

Possible, I suppose, but I always assume that eBay sellers are not pushing hot merchandise.

Of course, I often wonder how current season 100% genuine Gucci jackets and the like show up on eBay from time to time with the tags still on...

Consignment from someone with buyer's remorse, unwanted gift that can't be returned or exchanged, unused wardrobe from film studios, samples. But usually, the seller is just plain lying.

Just curious, how can something be 46%, or 84% genuine? I think it's such a funny expression to call something "100% AUTHENTIC." This isn't directed towards you, I just think it's a funny phrase that is often used and not questioned. A Gucci jacket that was 38% authentic, maybe the lining was original Gucci, but the fabric was from Macau? [IMG]
