Hello:

I asked my tailor to make me some "casual" wool pants that I could wear instead of jeans. I'm wondering what the style mavens of the forum think of the concept (exposed fly buttons) and the fit. This is the first time I have taken pictures like this so sorry for the picture quality if it isn't satisfactory. Many thanks. M.

By no means am I a style maven, but I think it's an interesting concept. I'm not 100%, but I believe that there are some designers who are making more casual wool pants (Rag & Bone, BoO maybe?)

That said, I'm not a big fan of the exposed buttons. Also, might just be the picture, but it seems as though there is some extra material around the thighs, as compared to the top block and below the knees. In the top picture, this makes you look heavier. Last thing, I feel that the front and rear pocket styles are somewhat discordant.

Please feel free to disregard everything I say. You have to wear them. If you like them, what does it matter?

They remind me of the jeans issued to sailors in the navy way back when.

I really like the fabric you've chosen.

Hi BlueHorseShoe:

You are being modest and clearly you have a good eye. I agree with all your comments (to some degree). Thanks, I'll bring them up with the tailor if we decide to do v2.

The exposed button fly looks a bit odd at first, but I'm starting to like to wear things that are unique. As long as the fit is good, you would be surprised what you can get away with. :)

Best,

Mim

I'll echo the sentiment that they would look much better without the exposed fly.

I don't care for the exposed fly buttons but I applaud you for trying something different.
