Posted this in MC, but maybe better here...

I found tux jacket at the local thrift. Really nice J Press and felt bad leaving it, BUT have no clue how to wear it out as the pants were no where to be found. 1 Button, Peak Lapel (satin), unvented. Any pictures or suggestions of how to rock this

Thanks!

can you find tux pants from j. press that match? if the jacket is not that worn, black barathea fabric seems like an easy match. I think that's the best option.

wearing a tux jacket alone.. i.e. with jeans or non matching pants is tricky. I think it can be done, but in sort of a rock star sleezy kinda way. it's gotta be some kind of super glam fabric or skinny fit, etc. imo you gotta already have a certain style to be able to pull it off though. i.e. you can't be just a normal preppy dude and throw on a j. press dinner jacket with chinos or 501s.

^ do you mean fit pics of the j. press jacket?

brad's 'just don't do it' advice is probably very smart since the casual tux is kind of a minefield. there is a high probability of looking like a stupid hollywood celebrity. or worse.

maybe you can make contrasting pants work. some kind of pattern or plaid.

or maybe you can pull this off. skinny jeans, open shirt, maybe even with a tee.

tho I'm afraid j. press will probably end up looking something like this:

best option is to find matching pants and just wear the full rig.

it looks a bit too traditional for a formality juxtaposition.

If it's cheap i'd buy it anyway and try it out. Black tux pants aren't that hard to find. Black fleece used to do a nice pair.

Here's a 2 year old pic of me when this ervell tux jacket fit me. Just sold today!

I decided I want a pic of you rocking that jacket Fuuma style. Maybe even in a public place with one hand holding a grocery basket.

After that, there will be no more speculation, no more questions as to whether it would work. We will know.
