Hey Guys!

Long time reader, first time poster :p

So I'm chasing a very casual sports jacket I can wear around without looking too dressed up. The only issue is im very tall, and on a budget so I'm currently looking at getting a modern tailor jacket.

Whats your opinion on their three button jacket in Navy twill? I was also considering one of the charcoal wool fabrics.

I have both light and dark slim fit jeans to wear it with. So the question is how many buttons, and what fabric would you recommend?

Thanks alot,

Stuart

Cotton is casual. Sound like you will be an extra long. Most European brands dont make such long sport coats (European Long is often American Regular), but you could try Brooks Brothers. Their sport coats are handsomely priced, particularly the cotton ones. Look out for the extra longs though - they will be about 36" top collar to bottom and 28 - 29" sleeves shoulder to cuff, that might work for you. Im 6ft 4" of normal limb / torso proportions - and take Brooks Brothers Long easily (27" sleeve shoulder to cuff and 35" total length) and often go for Regular instead since Im only 34" top to bottom and 26" sleeve. And yes, 3 buttons is fine. 2 buttons is preferable since 3 buttons elongate the look of the jacket slightly. But 3 is fine, particularly if the third button is partially hidden by the lapel roll.

Ok, the reason I was thinking about three buttons is that it looks a little less like a everyday suit jacket and when worn open looks more like a standard jacket. But if two is preferable sure

I really like those Brooks Brothers cotton jackets but they are nearly three times as much as the MT one. And seeing as Im in Australia I wouldnt be able to try it on.

Do you think the MT navy twill will look too formal?
