Most belts are $15, hold up my pants, but fall apart in less than a year.
$35 gets me something that still looks cheap but lasts forever.
$200 buys a nice, well made dress belt that is completely inappropriate with khakis or jeans, even good selvage.
$1000 buys a hermes which well made but ostentatious.
If I want to do better than my cheap $35 belts for casual clothing, what are my options? Is there any market for a good well made top grain leather without getting into either thin dress belts or flashy 'look-what-I-can-afford' designer options? I don't mind exotic (crocodile, etc) leathers as long as something is well made and not too over the top (logo shaped buckles, mirror polish finish, etc) but most of what I've seen is cheaply made.
