I'm looking for a couple of cashmere turtlenecks for fall. I came across these from -- gasp -- Banana Republic. BR Monogram seems to be a new, more upscale line for them. They look nice but I'm wondering what to expect of the quality. I'm not looking for top-of-the-line, but a solid, basic, sweater that will last awhile.

I have several Lands End cashmere turtlenecks which are in excellent condition after about seven years - wearing as well as my Pringle and Ballantynes in fact. They're an unbeatable price.

Try finding some Polo Ralph Lauren cashmere t-necks on ebay, they pop up all the time at nice prices. The quality is superb and if you get them at around $100-$200 they're really good value

You might want to check the Filene's in Friendship Heights. I seem to recall some nice cashmere turtlenecks by reputable brands in the recent shipment they received from Mario's of Seattle and that Connecticut store I can't recall at the moment. I bought a nice cashmere turtleneck in July at that store. It came from Barney's and was $99.

Brooks has a whole set of them this fall.

Today, tomorrow and the next day--they're 25% off.
