Hello All!

Between now and christmas, i have roughly 500$ i would like to invest into one of two things. the first is a few cashmere sweaters (or wool or merino or whatever) the cashmere would come from JAB (during their buy one get 2 free promotion this weekend) the others would come from Brooks. I am looking for some advice on the quality of the JAB cashmere, and if it makes sense to even invest in 'lower end' cashmere or if i should just wait.

The other item i might get is 3 custom shirts from BB during their made to measure event (20% off). That being said, i have a large number of shirts that i fit into very well, but i have always been curious about the fit and finish of custom shirts. is it really worth it as compared to a nice fitting OTR shirt?

I am also willing to take suggestions on what a few nice investment pieces might be for this season. I have shirts galore (mostly BB and Charles Tyrwhit) and a few nice blazers from BB. Shoes i am fairly secure on as well.

I appreciate the advice!

Get the sweaters from JAB. I haven't shopped there in a few years, but I bought a few v-neck sweaters from them back in 2010. They fit like blouses (most otr clothes are too wide in the torso for me), so I had them altered by a tailor. They've held up well. Actually, I wore one yesterday. I have two that are still in the plastic because I haven't gotten around to having them altered yet, haha. I have both cashmere and merino. They're both great. The cashmere fits more snug and feels softer. The merino feels slightly more thick and durable. I'd probably go with the merino.

As far as the BB mtm shirts go, I'd order those from an online mtm store. IMO, Brook's mtm shirts are $$$.

Why would you buy anything (except cedar shoe accessories), much less a cashmere sweater, from JAB? Recommend against it. Merino or lambswool is probably a better bet, unless you're willing to drop a lot more to get high-quality cashmere.
