Cashmere Sport Coat, Timeless or Trend?

I've seen cashmere come and go and a tan, I suppose more accurately bronzish herringbone sportcoat caught my eye at Nordstroms. Specifically it says Napoli for John W Nordstrom and the fabric is Loro Piana.

They retail for $795 but the day after Christmas sale will have them at 5 and change.

Is a cashmere coat worth the investment? The Herringbone pattern looks great but I'm worried it will go out of style.

Advice?

Cashmere is a high quality wool and has nothing to do with going in or out of style - so to answer your question: it's timeless. The cut of the jacket, now that could look dated in a couple of decades

What he said. Also cashmere is usually not as hardy as regular wool, so it might not last as long, but you knew that.

I have a 100% LP cashmere SC from Nordstrom's. Looks and feels great...not too sure about longevity yet. However, although it is light, it is WARM.

I only wear it during the winter months...I wouldn't recommend it if you live in a warm climate.
