I just purchased a Loro Piana cashmere coat which is just awesome! After reading a few posts it seems like Cucinelli is making some very nice cashmere pieces as well. From those that own both, how would you compare the two?

I can only compare sweaters from experience. I'd rate Cucinelli a smidge above Piana for these, but they're both very very nice. The only other brand in my closet that comes close is Piacenza.

I find this so interesting because I have items in the store with Piacenza fabrics (wool/Cashmere combos) and while nice they dont come close to the Loro Piana Fabrics that I have or the Colombo blended fabrics I have.

But even when I was in Italy by Colombo the Colombo rep was telling me how Piacenza is (or was) high quality alongside Colombo and Loro Piana.

Are we talking sweaters here or other types of garments? I only have 100% cashmere sweaters from Piacenza (two of them) and they are fantastic. I also have 2 Colombo 100% cashmere sweaters but I don't think they come anywhere near the BC, LP or RP. I don't know if this holds true for other types of garments or mixed wool sweaters. JMO of course

We are talking fabrics.

Regardless, your Colombo vs the BC, LP et al is interesting as I have had great response to the Colombo in both the sweaters and wovens (scarves) and while I have no direct LP Cashmere experience those customers of mine that have both (LP and Colombo) have almost always come back for more or highly rated the Colombo after comparing.

When are your Colombo from?

Got them here in the B&S some time ago. It's only two sewaters so a very limited sample/experience. I'm interested in other owners' opinions.

As would I.

Incidentally the Murry Allan are a harder knit and dont have the hand that the Colombo does, and for that reason I prefer the Colombo to the MA.
