I am thinking of rocking this look for the spring and cooler summer months. Does anyone have any opinions or suggestions (proper colors, what buttons to leave unbuttoned, length of shorts, belt or braces, socks or not, AA illustrations etc.)?

Whenever I see that look, I think of Hyacinth Bucket's trailer trash brother-in-law on Keeping Up Appearances (vest not cardigan in photo).

I can't picture this as a good look. It also seems you would have to clean the sweater much more often than usual.

I sometimes wear a v-neck cashmere sweater commando style; very decadent....though not quite as decadent as a silk shirt under cashmere.

Does not feel as nice. Cannot be washed. Plus, would not look good.

Looks nice on women. Especially the double-breasted kind.

Aren't most women double-breasted?

I think that you should do it, but only after putting a small dollop of Vicks VapoRub on each nipple.
