Speaking of 720s, this 720 on TE37s is my current lust affair:

Cadillac is still doing it right, but sell no better... (though dropping from 600+hp to 550+hp guess compete in a different segment)

That has 700+hp written all over it. decently optioned too, i guess.
would daily. if not here. . .

Unless you are balancing HP with weight what's the fascination with sheer horsepower? Unless you are taking your car to the track isn't it splitting hairs above a certain threshold for no more than just having it for the sake of having it?

At a certain point the horsepower war is just the theoretical ability to say, "My car can beat up your car." Most people don't have roads or even tracks near them that would let them fully take advantage of say 700 horsepower or more. More importantly, most people don't have the skills to make use of that kind of power. Some owners will end up famous for being in a Youtube video wrecking their car.

don't doubt you, most turbo charge car are pretty easy to tune for another at least 100hp and still very usable daily...

modern car's formula (even with big horsepower) has been you just have to step on it, at least the "sport" sedan typically won't get you in trouble...

My douchemobile and I agree with you.

The most HP I ever put down on the road was about 450 out of 500 based on the Mercedes screen readout.

It still comes down to driving skills, experience, getting to know how a car drives, road conditions etc. When Mrs. Dino and I were test driving MB C43s at our local dealership in November 2016, a guy wanted to test drive a brand new C63 that was on the showroom floor. We went and test drove a C43, and when we got back, another salesman asked our salesman if we saw the C63 get wrecked. We did not. Apparently, the guy driving the C63 turned off the traction control, floored it and stuffed it into a cement barrier. Maybe the tires weren't fully warmed up, it was November, but clearly a driver with more money than driving skills/knowledge of the car, and road conditions etc.
