Honeymoon phase still in full effect.

Couple of pleasant surprises include how well the headlights work and how much I like the puddle light.

So far the only minor annoyance is the cup holder placement which allows a bottle to block the controls. I found it fits well in the door pocket and is out of the way.

The A8L is in for some work this week, the dealership gave me an A4 s-line as a loaner. So I may or may not have taken it out for a spin at the red-line this morning around the house.

High level review is "holy **** the turbo lag is ******* massive"

Once is gets going though, it flies. It is quick, responsive, fun, the interior is several levels below the A8(duh) but nice enough.

If I ever get demoted from EDANAL I might be able to slum around in one of these

I have to give the VW group a lot of credit for developing the crap out of that 2.0L turbo four cylinder. It's found in everything from the Golf GTI and VW SUV's to the A3/A4/A6 to the Q3/Q5/Q7 and even the sporty Golf R and S3. Smaller or larger turbo with or without an added hybrid system and it puts out anywhere from 200HP - 300+HP. It's a do it all powerplant.

I can imagine it feels anemic in the lower power setups. I'd certainly opt for the V6 if it was in the market for an A6 or Audi SUV but the little four cylinders get great mileage, especially with the hybrid system.

I was surprised to see I hit 28 mpg on a 2 hour roundtrip drive today...then filled back up at $5.75/gallon.

Our Tiguan is objectively not fast.

but it *feels* faster than other ICE vehicles in the segment. Or at least more fun. Maybe it has better mid range rolling acceleration or something since that’s what most people drive.

The CRV was the last thing we tested before the tiggy and felt just totally dismal to drive in comparison.

Honestly, I’d probably agree. All their models are pretty sterile, the RS3 is the only fun one.

Although i do know what you mean, it isn't cutting edge design, but the RS8 is a sexy car. I enjoy the clean lines of the interior, it is peak german. Functional without being flashy, well build and elegant in a minimalist kind of way
