Try it. Maybe the configurator just doesn't show it. I couldn't get anything to change. It lists two tone leather, black and choice of color.

The configurator doesn't update the photo when you select the option, but it should end up looking similar to this (with the red leather being black).

Surprising how much of a difference sport mode made in the rolling race--I would have expected the DSG to optimally downshift no matter what when you floor it.

Only complication is that it's a clubsport which you can't buy in the US--so it has a fair amount more power than the standard GTI (I know in the mk7 they used the larger IS38 turbo from the Golf R). A stock base GTI (even with the now-standard performance pack) would get smoked there

I would love if we could buy a clubsport or TCR here.

Given that in the US manual shifting is being associated with more sporting driving, there’s a good chance that there is a direct relation between it and aggressive drivers.

But more likely its for environmental purposes

It's in the C&D article that was linked: California still uses older federal rules for noise measurement, while Porsche used the newest rules. California hasn't updated to the latest rules yet, so there's disagreement on how loud the car is allowed to be.
