Also a thought: Gen 1 Viper or NSX. Which driving style would you guys prefer?

NSX all the way.

F50 has a homologated F1 engine too. I'm not sure the NSX has any F1 in it other than the Senna tuning.

Old school would include BMW M10-engined cars too since that was the basis of their 1000+HP turbo F1 engine, so 2002, E12, and E21. I guess you could argue the S85 V10 has some F1 provenance as well, and maybe the S65 in the E9x M3 generation since that's supposed to be based on the S85.

Agreed, the NSX had Senna helping them tune it, but it's hardly an F1 car for the road.

Love the sound of the F50! I've heard one at full acceleration on a closed road and it is magnificent! Sadly, not one of the best looking Ferraris.

I'll gladly take a 288GTO over the other cars that were listed above. After all, it was designed for Group B racing and was good enough for Niki Lauda and Michele Albereto.

I personally don’t get the hate for the original NSX. It has a huge following, fast (for its time), beautifully styled, manual transmission and to top it all off, was very reliable mechanically. Plus in yellow or red, it was a real looker. I know someone with one and he still takes it on long road trips. Saw this one 2 years ago in some random parking lot. The exhaust choice is not my thing but it sure hasn’t lost its looks.

Not sure what you are reading into my post. All I said was it's hardly an F1 car for the road. At no point did I say anything about hating the NSX, so I'm not sure what you're upset about.

Who said anything about upset? It was a general statement Dino, not targeted at you or anyone in specific. I just chose to reply to your post to give my 2 cents, as it pertained to the NSX

Ha. I enjoy Doug's YouTube channel. I get why his review style is not everyone's thing, but I like watching him go over every little quick and feature he finds. I think he is at his best when he discusses older cars.

Not sure if his Cars and Bids side project will take off. I believe they are screening cars allowed on the site and he's only going to review certain ones.

I like Doug's videos as well. There is so much content about performance vehicles that is virtually identical to eachother. Doug fills a niche that I find interesting. I also respect and appreciate that he built his following through hard work and without access to press cars. I'm happy to support him!

I can see Doug's review being useful for regular car because I want to hear the quirks, the feature etc., but for a performance car I'm not sure why does anyone care about Doug's review.

What value does it add, like for example, I mean I suppose for a roadster it's good to know whether your headrest blow hot air or not when needed? But at least that would not have been my main reason to buy or not buy a convertible, like it would be nice to know but not a deal breaker.

Is the F50 more F1 inspired than the Enzo? (was wondering why you guys started bringing up the F50)

On the NSX Being Formula inspired this donut video informed me on that

Agreed with just two small caveats. One, he really needs to take some of that million dollar income he has and reinvest into his channel. Better camera equipment (so he’s not on his knees so much) and for the love of all that is holy, drop that Gmail address. A website domain and email is pretty easy to come by and affordable. Two, more interior camera angles. It’s tough watching mostly his face when he’s driving, a couple of GoPro’s would solve that issue. But for entertainment purposes, he’s cornered the market for sure.

The Enzo was much softer and better suited on the road. I speak from experience on that one. Personally though, I’d choose the F40 over the F50 everyday of the week and twice on Sundays. It’s infinitely more visceral & engaging, again speaking from experience.

Well, the actual test drive is by far the shortest portion of his reviews. It's not really his focus. So you are correct that someone looking for that would be better served elsewhere, but that's not really a knock against what he produces. As Patric says, he has his own little niche. Maybe that niche isn't what you are looking for, but he's managed to build a large following of people who are.

I actually do find hearing about the quirk and features of exotic sports cars I'll never own interesting. :)
