Have you guys seen this cars and bids thing? Aka Doug Demuro’s fake bring a trailer...

I guess one of the selling points is that Doug will personally comment on your car to try to draw the bids. Which is funny to watch him struggle to say something insightful about SLK230’s and Infiniti J30’s.

No one will remember Gavin Newsom in 2035. Maybe this will all just go away somehow before then. I’m actually not sure how this can be implemented. Is CA going to require the buildup of the necessary infrastructure for EV’s? Is there some way they can compel automakers to offer EV at every price point? When i lived in CA i couldn’t afford a $15k car at one point. How do you treat out of state purchases and immigration?

Btw those are all rhetorical questions. I already know Gov. Newsom’s answer is “i have no ******* idea”. I had to deal with CCPA (CA consumer privacy act) implementation and no one from executive, legislative and enforcement branches of CA government had any answers for any questions we had on what they meant with the provisions of the very act that they drafted.

Actually, no - I’m wrong. They had an answer. The answer was “i have no ******* idea but you still have to comply by next year. Even if i can’t tell you what “compliance” actually looks like.”

well, sounds like pretty typical for government...

Just think how much classic ICE sports cars are going to appreciate! 2035 cutoff is only for new vehicles. I always figured my non-electric days were numbered anyway -- teenage daughter was head of the "Green Team" at her last school and is already on my case about the AMG.

Remind her who pays her tuition -- her mom -- and that if she keeps picking on you you'll have to talk to her about it.

My pre-schooler is already on ****** about not having an electric car. Kid can identify most car brands and the primary questions are "how fast is it" and "is it electric." I suppose our someday going to be vintage v8 SUV and our wheezy Subaru haven't exactly endeared him to ICE vehicles.

Actually, no - I’m wrong. They had an answer. The answer was “i have no ******* idea but you still have to comply by next year. Even if i can’t tell you what “compliance” actually looks like.”
The answer was in the article - the ban is only on new car sales.

"You can still keep your internal combustion car," Newsom said. "You can still have a market for used cars. We're providing an abundance of new opportunities."

The way the environment is changing, there may not be anyone left in California to buy new cars in 15 years anyway, so I'm not sure this is a big deal. Florida has similar issues. With ever-worsening hurricane seasons and rising oceans, will you be able to buy a V-12 fan boat or will they all be electric in 15 years?

Well, he doesn’t say anything insightful about interesting cars either.

My 4-year-old loves our GT3. Her and her little friends get into frequent, silly arguments over whose father has the faster car.

I cannot imagine her admonishing me over not driving something electric. But then, we live in NYC, not the People’s Republic of California.

Hmmm. Two current Outback owners have dissed their car since I went and test drove one...
