I have done NY to Montreal, with two kids. So we planned the stops around bathroom and starbucks breaks. Really never had an issue and the hotel in downtown Montreal had chargers, so the car was charged when I left and we basically went in reverse. A little more of planning, but really only added 45 minutes to the trip each way. Part of that was eating in the car instead of grabbing lunch at a restaurant. The chargers along that corridor were right off the highway in malls. Range anxiety usually dissipates after a few months of understanding how it work efficiently.

Just drove into a nearby town to have lunch (outdoors ... with social spacing). Parked out front was a new Jaguar ... a sportier model (I no longer keep up). It had a most unusual paint job: grass green with "burnished" front and rear. I was reminded of antiqued shoes.

That may -- or may not depending on your preferences -- work on shoes ... but it is hideous on a car.

I didn't have phone with me ... sadly ... but the front and back had a darker green color ... faded in. It looked like a Berluti shoe.

Imagine this -- or better yet, don't ;-) -- as a Jaguar:

adding electric to gas station is the "wrong way" to go about it though

for the Us at least, a big chunk of the adopter can
1. charge at home
2. charge at work

plug in is really kind of random stop or long journey, so hotel, highway stop (but don't have to be in the same lane as gas), even mall, or anywhere people naturally will make a "stop"

I think there are two large reasons EVs haven't seen mainstream adoption yet:
1. Range anxiety that HRoi just mentioned. The US buys all kinds of things for the 1% problem, and so people look at it and go "this won't work for that one road trip a year I take"

2. Market acceptance/natural technology transition. These things take time particularly with large purchases like cars.

While I agree practically, local charging solves the 99% problem, people just aren't rational consumers.

oh, I don't doubt adapting will take a while, just saying adding to gas station is the wrong way to do it, better add elsewhere.

A lot of people houses aren't really equipped to do charging from home. I don't have the proper outlet to charge in my garage.

**********s aren't supposed to be 1 hour sessions.
I'm gay but was never versed in **********s. New York was a young gay man's candy store (pre AIDS). The Bay Area was much the same. A quickie for me was always an hour (or more). Some of us are cursed ... or blessed ... depending upon how you look at it. .

An electric vehicle works for me 90%+ of the time ... and I live in the sticks. For the 50 mile round trip to "town" and back ... it's fine. For the 75 mile round trip (via ferry) to Seattle and back, it's fine. If driving around via Tacoma to Seattle ... I opt for the petrol using car ... but could use electric and recharge in town. For drives between Puget Sound and SoCal ... it's mostly fine. For trips to the Olympic Peninsula (not that often) I opt for the petrol using suv.
