I’ve always hated the RX8. But perhaps for an unfair reason - the RX7 was such automotive perfection that I couldn’t help disliking this awkward looking thing that replaced it

A friend drove and raced an RX8 for a while (and pretty successfully too) and he liked it quite a bit. He only gave it up because of engine issues which they all suffer from. It can be fast in the right hands, but it requires skill. The motor also has little torque so you need to rev it out to make any power. Gas mileage is awful when you do that.

The main engine issue seems to be the apex seals on the tips of the rotary piston, which wear out and are expensive and hard to change. But if you can drop a new engine in there every few years for $1300, it doesn't seem too bad a deal.

This is one of my favorite YouTube car shows, and this week they mostly talk about Aston's history and current situation as well as what they think might happen to it. It's interesting getting a car guy's perspective on AM because too often AM is given a pass because they make very pretty cars. Some interesting comments and stories in there about the 991 GT3RS too. It's a long rambly talk but worth listening to, sort of like when you get together with your car buddies, except probably more interesting.

Sorry man. They do ramble on, but it's entertaining if you're in the right mood. Cammisa is one of my favorite auto reviewers (even if he annoys the #$%@ out of me half the time), so I don't mind.

I obviously love the color combo and the leather. It has one of my pet peeves though -- I hate the logo on the seats. I just think it is tacky.

Found a MotorWeek "Retro Review" that describes the 83 MK1 Rabbit GTI's "exhilarating 0-60 time of 9.7 sec". In those days anything under 10 felt quick. I'm sure the Neuspeed short shift kit I installed gave me at least an extra .01-.02 sec.
