Same thing Blackhood with the exception of the technical platform. Japan made it happen very quickly. But here in the "land of the free" - they chose not to press the IBOC standards and let one company do their own thing, iBiquity.

FM broadcasters have switched, but the format is far less compelling... and content producers don't have enough good content for multichannel HD anyway.

I think this is crucial; in the uk we have the state funded bbc which produces about 50 local stations, 11 national stations and 5 global stations of good quality broadcast. I'd take a leap of faith and say it is one of the largest and highest quality radio producers in the world right now, so we have a massive interest in keeping ahead of the curve. When the choice is profit driven fewer people are going to spend millions upgrading their broadcast equipment if there is no real need.

I believe even the Hyundai Equus and the Toyota Avalon (prior gen, not sure on current) have reclining rear seats..

I worked with the Beeb up until last year. I have the highest respect for the service they provide globally and the people that work there.

BMW will not quit until their keyfobs are as big as a cell phone.

Hard to tell how big it really is since there's no reference object to compare it to in the picture, but I doubt it's as big as it looks in the picture.

I do know what you're talking about, though, as the key fobs for the latest generation of BMWs are significantly bigger than the older ones. I don't like how big they are.

I know what you're getting at, but is this really all that superfluous? It tells you how much range you have and pretty much the basics. Doesn't see over-engineered / over-designed at all to me.

I think it looks great, as long as it's not too big.

Also, with bluetooth LE technology, battery life shouldn't be too big of an issue for the key fob.

I personally like where this is heading.

Offer all that crap in an app so its optional, and use only à tiny keyfob to open close the car. Its not that hard.

Edit: and an nfc tray to put nu keys in, which allows me to start the damn thing.

It's an electric fucking car. Of course you're going to want to have information with regards to range, etc accessible somewhere OUTSIDE of your car.

I love the key and hopefully my i3 comes with something similar.

Nah, I fundamentally disagree with controlling your car with your smartphone.

    That'd be annoying as hell.

None of the functions offered have to do with control, its just info. With control functions, i agree. Info, give it to me on my smartphone.
