That really sucks. I hate jealous and petty pricks that would do something like that.

Also, sorry to hear that your car got keyed.

A few years back, I bought a beautiful 1956 Porsche 356. I had it for a week and put it in a car show and a rear fender got keyed there, resulting in a 12 inch deep scratch. These things make me wonder what is going on in people's heads.

I saw a Viper Hennessey Venom 1,000 Twin Turbo on a flatbed trailer today. Wish I could have heard it driving.

At a car show, I'd think it's more stupidity than malice. I've shown cars before, and people really have little respect for people's property. I saw an altercation start at a British classics show when someone politely asked a teenage girl to not sit on his E-type's hood and her father started yelling about the car's owner being rude to his daighter.

Well, scratching a classic car at a show in a straight line with a key is probably both, stupid and malicious. Thank God nothing that money, an excellent insurance policy and outstanding body guy cannot fix.

But people sometimes display a weird relationship to other people's possessions, especially at car shows: Funny story from a few years back at Pebble. When they parked the concours cars in Carmel after the Tour d'Elegance, I saw this old lady, likely in her mid/ late 80's walking through the rows of the most beautiful classic cars on the planet. Every car she walked by and approved off, she "patted" the car enthusiastically on the front fenders.

Except, she was wearing this moster of a ring and we all heard the clang, clang, clang ...

I HAVE driven a lot of these cars, but not all of them - and not currently:

This is a blog I'm trying to maintain (trying!) of all the cars my dad used to own. I have inherited my love of cars from my father (even though I currently drive a Citroen).

Ha, yes and you are right. On an old Porsche 356, it is called bondo ... 12" thick is the norm [IMG]
