I have been waiting for the Macan. Nice car, nothing really surprising about what they did. I will say the carbon fiber "side blades" on the doors are pretty douchey. I get replacing metal parts with lighter/stiffer carbon fiber, but gluing carbon fiber on top of sheetmetal is really tacky. If I don't end up in a model x, Macan (along with Cayenne diesel) will be high on my list but will not be fitting them with any of the ridiculous festoonery that Porsche seems to be pushing. Other than heated seats (which I think may require leather), not sure there are any options on the Macan that I would really need.

Not impressed with the ass and the diesel option, why pay that much extra for a tarted up Q5, when the Q5 comes with better engines?

Better engines? It's not until you step into the top-of-the-range SQ5 that you have an engine comparable to the Macan S.

The normal 3.0 tdi, has 250hp, which about the same as the Macan and the SQ5 has 313hp.

In Canada, we get the S and the Turbo. The S has 340hp. The SQ5 has 354hp. WIth comparable options, the Macan S spec's out to maybe $4-5k more than the Audi. I don't mind paying the premium to not be seen in an Audi.

The europrean SQ5, is a diesel.

The biggest petrol Q5 has a 272 3.0tfsi and is 8'ish thousand euros less than the Macan S.

The big X3's are also cheaper and faster than the porsche

I'm still a little disappointed with the design and the interior color options on the porsche.

$180 and a full tank of gas upon return sounds about reasonable, methinks.

    Thoughts?

I might be tempted to get a SQ5 and have one of the usual suspects tune it up. Of course I'm sure one can tart up the macan too, bit porsche tuning is always more expensive

An APR SQ5 could be cool.
