Only Cayman worth owning is the 2014 Cayman S and old Cayman R.
I just got an email from MBUSA saying that I needed to update the map in the nav system. I thought cool, and when I opened the email, it tells me that the update disc costs $250. You would think with a $100k+ car they would at least give you free software updates! WTF?!
And a BJ!
I do not know what goes through the heads of luxury auto makers sometimes. Until 2013 keyless ignition/touch locks was an option on the GL.
My friend is buying a ZHP.
I am proud.
I don't give a shit about the update, really, but the proposition that I must pay for it greatly offends me! LOL BTW I saw a new S in the flesh yesterday. Very nice car, but not a must instaKop.
Here's one for you: touch locks are standard on the RR sport but not even available on the RR full size (2012 and earlier)!
It's these suck-ass DVD based navigation systems. In the age of push online updates, the auto industry (with the exception of tesla) is lagging behind. So now they have to press and distribute these things
Even so, $250 is unconscionable
Exactly the reason why I didn't check the Nav option on my most recent car purchase. My Garmin Nuvi may not look pretty, but for a $100 or so it came with free map updates and traffic for life.
1. you don't need to update that shit it's a rip
2. agree on the discless push
3. new s is instakop
4. garmins are completely unacceptable under all conditions
I'm willing to bet that you've never driven any porsche before. Had a 911SC and 964, bought Cayman S over 997 because the Cayman S reminded me of the air cooled 911. Driven the Cayman R with air and xenons (which virtually every Cayman R was ordered with) and couldn't feel much difference between it and my 06 CS. Personally I'd buy the Boxster Spider over the Cayman R.
Have you seen it in person? It's nice but it didn't seem as dramatic a revision as it did in the pics. I will likely order one in the spring since Mrs. TC is convinced she doesn't want anything else but it won't be one of those kops where I can't sleep the night before I pick it up because I'm so excited.
I bet an Alpina B7 would get your balls tingling.
I agree. At the dealer I found the Cayman to be underwhelming and gravitated towards the 991s' they had.
That's what I'm talking about. It's really screwy the way high end lux cars adopt technology. I can remember looking at Lexus in Mrs. Piob's last lease cycle and they still had cassette tape players.
well the base one i saw did not look good then again it's not great in pics either, i'm talking about the one with sport pack like what i posted
i wonder how much f430s will be in a year or two hmm, friend's buddy is a tech and can service for me
