Well, according to the mechanic, since the tire was worn evenly, it wasn't due to any inherent issues with the car. He says the only explanation is that the previous owner failed to swap out that one tire at the time of replacement.

I find that hard to believe, given that the previous owner is a huge bimmer enthusiast who clearly spends a lot of money on his cars, but whatever.

Point being, that rear right tire has shit grip and on a spirited drive, I lost control of my car and the rear right tire hit a curb.

    - Integral link needs to be replaced ($300)
    - Some other suspension component whose name I'm forgetting ($500)
    - Alignment ($100)
    - Labor ($300)

    = Sad GF.

I WISH it was the diff. Then I could CPO that bitch and not pay a cent!

I forgot to add that I'll be getting new tires, so that's another $500.

With all this money I'm now pouring into my car, I guess it serves as a disincentive to sell my car once I move to NYC..

What can I get for under $15k that is not too expensive to maintain, has decent gas mileage, but is fun to drive?

I'm thinking like vw gti or Subaru wrx. What else is out there?

Coming out with only $1,200 for suspension work is low for that car.

FIAT Abarth fits the bill unless you need space; but it's got the fizz. Might even get a warranty.

GTI yes - or an Audi A3
    Mini Cooper S
You can get into an Infiniti G35 in that range.

    Yep.

But I could fashion myself with a very nice MTM suit with $1.2K!
