1. And... we're back. You'll notice that all of your images are back as well, as are our beloved emoticons, including the infamous :foo: We have also worked with our server folks and developers to fix the issues that were slowing down the site.

There is still work to be done - the images in existing sigs are not yet linked, for example, and we are working on a way to get the images to load faster - which will improve the performance of the site, especially on the pages with a ton of images, and we will continue to work diligently on that and keep you updated.

It really is amazing - guys used to buy $500 Honda shells and put 40x that into them, painstakingly choosing the parts and waiting months for things to arrive from Japan. Now BMW and Mercedes guys seem to buy the cheapest shit out there and dgaf what really goes on their cars.

haha ya, I have a buddy who got an eg 10 years ago (well after i retired from the jdm game and he always wanted to belong)

anyways, he paid i think 1500 for it? he then proceeded to dump 30k into it in the following years (he still has it and is still modding)

you go to a bmw meet and see guys who buy garbage replica csl trunks that don't fit and have more waves on the top than the pacific because they wanted to save some money

e46 m3 guys are notoriously the cheapest fucks on the planet and the worst of all customers to deal with (i have several friends who own shops)

I have a thing with replica things, they make me want to slap the shit out of people.

Just see all the idiots riding around on chinese OEM rep wheels instead of paying that little extra for something nice made in Germany, Italy or Japan, some them aren't that much more expensive the worst case I have seen was 300$ from rep to genuine.

10x shell price? One could say the same thing about Singer 911s but I'd gladly buy one if I had that kind of scratch.

So much commotion for something completely reversible. Considering I'm on top of my maintenance schedule (90k Ins. II was done in Oct.) and just shelled out for subframe reinforcements, AKG 90A poly bushings just about everywhere I could stick them, and a proper alignment on a Hunter rack. From my experience, there are cheap fucks in every community. E46 M3 owners are no better or worse.

I'll give you the CSL trunks, though. I've seen some shitty fitting ones out there. Although, poor installation is part of the problem.

And this is why people stopped posting pictures of the cars they drive.

It'd be kinda weird if we all continuously posted pictures of our cars. Besides, don't take the thread title so literally -- this is just a discussion place to talk about cars in general.

It is cooler to see pictures of people's cars; certainly more fun that mere trash talk or similar stupidity.

The problem is that < 10% of the active membership of SF posts her, and most of us have already posted pictures of our cars multiple times. It can kind of be a little self-serving if you keep doing it I suppose.

New here: clearly, and probably will be doing more lurking than posting. However I agree, this thread could use more cars and less text.

I love contrasting colored interiors. Why so many M3's etc., are black/black inside astounds me.

it's a relatively new thing but it's catching on. many automakers charge more for what is essentially the same amount of leather and the same man hours of work, i think (same amount of leather, same process, just a different color?), so that's one reason why it's not ubiquitous. also, car dealers are notoriously slow to change their ways so they stock their showrooms with the stuff that sold well traditionally.

regarding that particular color, i had contrast color black/coral red in my 135i and wanted to go with a similar shade in my M3. fox red looks quite a bit more orange than coral red, though. nothing wrong with it, and cheers if gnatty likes it, but that wasn't my cup of tea, so i went with boring all black
