I love that color, only on an older British car of course.

I'm stuck on silver, my last four have been silver. Arrested development.

    Still sounds orgasmic though.

Another vote for the V1 here; also get it hardwired for a clean stealth install. This is a pretty straightforward diy in the E46.

Nice. Any thoughts on getting used? I see no reason to buy new.. unless I'm missing something :embar:

Buy a used one, just make sure it's the most up to date model. All V1 can be updated at cost, check there website for more details.

The last one I had was hard wired. Controls were in he ashtray; thus there were no visible indicators of it inside or out.

Just saw some youtube vids of people installing them in their e46 m3s.. seems like a very easy and fast DIY.

Also, the vast majority of V1s on ebay are more expensive than the brand new price.. :plain:

Unless you're in Virginia or some place where radar detectors are illegal, I don't understand why people do the stealth install. Hardwire with the cables hidden, yes, but hiding the unit itself?

OK, maybe if you like your interior to look clean, but police officers who have seen mine during stops pretty much ignore it (the 2 times that has happened, and one pointed to it, and said, "Don't worry, I didn't stop you for speeding.")

I was referring to hardwiring it to hide the cables. Don't see the point in hiding the unit itself either.. too much hassle and modifying required.

it's pretty much to make the interior look clean, yes. and there are some officers that will give you a hard time especially if you had been jamming their laser before they stopped you.

one more thing - i have an Orlando cop friend that told me that if you have a detector fixed on to your windshield, window breakage and theft is not a question of if, but when

Fair points. I only use mine on long trips. Around town, it's in the glovebox.

Ugh. That's annoying. Well, my apartment's parking complex is gated and I rarely drive as it is because of all my damn travel so maybe i'll be fine..

Yeah mine was hard wired because of the law in Virginia. If cops see it there, they can take it in addition to giving you a ticket for having it.
