Went to Audi yesterday and let me tell you i'm really loving it! Thinking about geting a daily-car from them. The ones that got my eye were s5 and s8.

My Father has both (wanted a fun car and a car he could use with clients) and I can tell you they are both rock solid. Each has about 40,000 in 2 years and to my knowledge there has been not technical issues at all. The A8/S8 is particularly nice with a good spec. Having the rear seat entertainment, reclining seats and a proper table to work at can be a god-send on long journeys.

Having said that, without the fancy extras it is very much like an S6, but with 3" more room in the back, so I'd be inclined to save the cash and upspec the lower model rather than get the stock S8. All depends on your budget.

With the AM that you have, I'd get a sedan, and the S8 would be a great choice.

Wasn't the old S8 known for being ridiculously expensive to own repair cost etc.

I would get an A5 3.0tdi or 335d and remap it, instead of a S5.

Not even remotely close (I realize you're kidding). Between tolls and gas, I was spending about $450 a month with my old commute - not to mention wear on my car.

I think so too, might buy the s8 next month or so. I really liked it, the interior was nice and the sound was off the hook (B&O)

Sounds really great, I was very near to buy it right off the spot. But did not want to hurry things. I will get 3 years warranty with the car, service and if anything happends Audi will stand for the cost, so that's really great. My DB9 is not a daily car to drive in for work and I use car alot for travels and stuff. So I think it will just be perfect for more. Anything else that I might now about s8?

A std. A5 3.0 tdi does 0-100kph in 5,8, the S5 does it in 4.9 and the diesel is more fuel efficient

Saw a while back that the diesel with a remap, was very close to the S5, I think it did it in 5,3-4.

Yes, it is, and the engine is actually a Lambo V10 from the Gallardo which few know how to work on.

My A8 is rock solid, really well built. I test drove the S8 but it was just too much, too much $ also. Everything 8 (R, S, A) is very expensive to repair. My car has never had a problem other than a wheel bearing needing to be replaced but a single strut will set you back $1500, a brake job on my car is $1500, an oil change is $150, etc. But, the driving experience is great. You dont know how nice AWD drive is until you have it first time in a big rain when you are just cruising past everyone without a care in the world. Also in the snow, its incredible.

The W12 is actually the best version of the A8, that engine is a masterpiece. If you drive it you'll understand.

If I every wanted a big ass sedan it would have to be a 67 Lincoln Continental, but I would also take a 67 Chevy Impala.

Ya, very happy. The car has been getting developed since the late 90's so its had a lot of time to revise and perfect the platform. Its very solid and reliable. I've owned my car 3 years.

I did drive the equivalent merc and BMW and chose this one, I prefer an understated car, and in fact I like that its similar to the A6 so its not noticed. I dont own a car to be seen, I own it because I like to drive. I prefer not to draw attention and make statements and the BMW and Merc tend to do that more. Audi slips under the radar much like Saab did back in the day. I owned an A6 before this car.

Let me restate how nice that W12 is. 500 HP + 500 lb ft torque, its this feeling of having total power at any moment, at any speed, any gear, etc. Its such a special drive. The difference between the W12 and the V10 is that the W12 feels like a luxury car engine. The V10 feels like a sports saloon.

Those are US prices, you can put at least 50% on top of those for the north European ones.

Audi and BMW Copenhagen charges a 250$< an hour.

You are very right. God damn you make me wanna buy it now. I feel the same, I was looking at CLS, s500 and other cars I thought might work for me, but I want a comfortable business car but still fast, nice interior and comfortable seats. And I got that feeling from s8 it was year 2008 I think the one I was looking at. Black with black windows.

As you know my db9 is not a everyday car and I can't drive it for long trips when I work. Good for summer but that's it. So I really need a daily-car, you think I should go with s8 instead of s5, looks more classy? You get a more sport feeling from s5, right?
