Read through a ton of this thread recently.

Speaking of Grenadiers... Seen at my resort in Key West this morning:

There was one on display at an Overland Expo event we went to a couple of weeks ago in San Ramon on our motorcycles. I was sort of disappointed to see that the second row of seats has even less legroom than we had in our Jeep Wrangler and the rear cargo area was surprisingly small. I really wanted to like the Grenadier but I think it's not going to be in the cards for us.

Test drove a Rivian pick-up truck the other day and holy **** it can pull.

It's also neatly packaged but waaaay out of my price range :(

I hope they last long especially with the VAG partnership.

Still toying with the idea of ordering an M340i and working with my local BMW dealer has been a joy. Compared to the dealer where I drove the M3 recently, these guys are actually quite pleasant. No full court press or incessant auto texts & emails.

But even better, they are happy to let me drive anything on the lot. I got to drive the new G87 M2 and the last gen M2 Comp both in a manuel back to back.

Current gen gets a lot right (other than the looks). Gearbox is fantastic, there is SO much torque and the adaptive dampers felt damn near comfortable in comfort mode. The '21 M2 Comp was unbearably stiff but looks so much better.

This will comes as no surprise but BMW clearly has Audi beat in the driving dynamics department. I drove an RS3 a couple of years ago when I bought my S4. It was a couple years old and only available in an auto but I don't remember it feeling anywhere close to these M2's.

Took the Turbo S in for a service this week and, yeah, they are not lying about Porsche stealership margins. They did have good coffee and fast wifi and the receptionist was an Atlanta 10, so overall probably worth it.
Every time I go to the Porsche dealership for service, I load up on all their snacks to try to make up for the stealership margins. They also always call me an Uber Black to drop me off and pick me up.

I paid $9k for service, a new a/c, and wheel sensor replacements on the purple Macan this year. FML.

On the bright side, this new S/A I have is my new best friend (which in all seriousness is a great thing to have, since my last guy up and left without warning/after like a decade in the job)

Prices have sky rocketed. 5 years ago, I paid $400 for a new battery installed. This year they wanted $850 (a buddy in NJ with a 991.2 told me his dealer wanted something like $1,200). I always check the local Porsche dealerships' "Service Special Coupons" and make my dealer match the coupons. This year I brought coupons from another dealer for a new battery installed for $500, and some other coupons for a discount on brake fluid flush and oil change. The service adviser said, I don't know if I can give you these. I said, "Let me know if you can. I bought the car here and have only had it serviced here, but if you can't, I'll just take my car back and bring it to the dealer who issued the coupons." They came back and said they'd honor them, but they won't let me combine them or do that again next year. Like I give a sh*t about them saying that! I've outlasted every service advisor I've been assigned to and I can play the same coupon game next year. If they don't like it I'll bring it to the other dealership! The coupons saved me $500 this year 😁

My bill is $4K this time around but $800 is in parts I am bringing they are putting on. Mostly fender liners as the previous owners cut the hell out of the ones I have. Tires aren't too bad either unlike the huge markup the dealer wanted. I have tried twice to take the car to the dealer but they won't even quote me anything even for standard X mile services...

They wont even quote you a price for a 10,000 mile service. That seems pretty bizarre. Maybe they don't need the business? Perhaps it's presumed if you asked for the work you can pay for it because it's a Porsche dealer? Funny, my Toyota dealer tells you up front what the cost will be as they don't want someone bitching about the cost, or worse they do the work and the person says, they can't afford it.

I just checked my own dealer's website and right now they have coupons of 15% off any single repair, discount not to exceed $1000, and an oil change special $199 for 4 cylinder models, $299 for all others.

Their competition has coupons 20% off service if your Porsche is 10 years old or older, $499 for battery and a few other things.

I forgot that my $9k in service included new tires, which was a big omission, sorry. I can’t edit my previous post anymore.

@Dino944 was the $1200 for a Li Ion battery? I think some 991.2’s like the GT3 RS required Li Ion but it’s optional for others. Otherwise, I’ve started fitting $150 Interstate batteries on my GT’s and they work just fine…

@Dino944 Yea, they say they are going to quote me but it never comes. No competition in Nashville between dealerships and the next closest is Memphis which is a couple hour drive away. Found the Indy show via the local car club and all is well.

I'm really interested in the R1S for my next car, likely sometime Q2 or later next year. I need something that can tow at least 6,000lbs., as I regularly tow a horse trailer. Unfortunately no Rivian dealers in this state. Closest is probably Atlanta. I'm also looking at Tahoe, Yukon, Wagoneer, Sequioa, Armada. I drive a lot, so a lease won't do it unless they're going to allow 15k+ miles per year on it. Plus I'd have to transfer the lease from Georgia (or wherever) to here.
