Average service loaner probably drives someone from the dealer to work, work to dealer, repeat the next day with a new customer.

Some of them on longer repairs will see overnight use, but that's probably just normal committing still. Most people aren't taking them on road trips and even people who frequently drive long distance for work likely schedule planned maintenance for days when they aren't on the road.

Rental cars have always scared me..."drive it like a rental" and all, but by all accounts they can actually be very good buys. They follow the service schedule strictly and while the occasional person might hoon on them, most renters are just using them to get to the hotel and go to meetings or see some attractions...

yea, also typically the rental car are not some high performance car that people would bother to hoon on them? The worst crime would probably be not gentle on brake or don't care about warm engine up (but then again not racing), and I'm sure other than some high performance car "normal owner" has not really been paying attention to whether engine has warmed up either...

Ad for this Aston branded racing sim arrived by email this morning. Interestingly the website doesn't list a price anywhere. That must mean it's reasonably priced and affordable, right?

Problem I have with rentals is everyone single one I've driven has been a stripped down bare bones version of the car. That's fine for a rental but I wouldn't want to own that LT.

The last two times we've rented something we have had mid-tier trim levels.

Yeah, it seems to be all over the place, low end small cars are more likely to be low trims though.

Last car was a mid-trim Tiguan and I had a Titanium trim Edge a while back.

When I was in CA this summer and and rented the bottom of the barrel (due to overall high rental costs), it was a shit-tier Camry, and that was only after I paid to upgrade from an also-shit-trim tiny chevy hatchback that was nowhere near the size of their "vehicles like this:..." example car on their little sign depicting the different size classes.

Was the decision not to equip an ejector seat made for safety reasons? On a 45 mph car with no crash protection that’s designed to be piloted by untrained children ?
