A nice suggestion. The A8 is pretty, has the requisite panache (without being over the top), and is well made. The Jeep idea died when I read the reports about road noise and squeaks. I drive the highways so it would not work out. Also, I'm still not quite there with American cars.

As for the weekend car, I would worry about legroom in the Boxster, but I hear where your going with that . . .

I had a Phaeton and the obvious choice from what you have listed is the A8 but it is an anonymous lump. I chose a 7 series BMW.

Yeah, the A8 needs the sport package or to be an S8 to give it a bit more character. Nice car, but it sometimes comes across as being a bit bland.

Interesting . . . How did the Phaeton perform re: reliability, repair costs, maintenance?

This is what I meant with European engineers and American engines.

My best friend's dad had a Boxster and he never complained, the guy is 6'4.

I never got to drive it as I was only 15 when he sold it.

I drove my gf's mom's boxter (i think it's an '08 or so). i'm just over 6'4". it was not an uncomfortable drive but i would never buy one for myself, because of the lack of space. needed an extra 3 inches to slide the seat back. can't comment on headspace as the top was down :satisfied:

I thought the Viper looks good too. It has a very Italian look to it but you know it's a Viper.

The side profile on the Viper is absolutely stunning.
