The new one. beats all other companies efforts . And is actually nice to drive.

I think I only ever drove one while working for Lexus. It was discontinued in 2014 here in the USA, so hopefully with these new brand segments Toyota can revive it with a new edition. It wasn't nearly as beloved as the FJ40 (first picture), which is seeing certain pristine examples selling between $50K - $120K on average

It was decent. 60 kilometers at 1,500 rpm. and comfortable. And the interior is washable. That was a thing for us.

Well it was definitely reliable...cause Toyota. I recall fuel economy was its biggest downfall though, which was slightly worse then the Jeep Wrangler JK's.

It's definitely catching up to the FJ40 in the value market. I can't believe what used models with over 50K miles are selling for (which is considered fair deals)

No lie. If you have driven a Classic Land Rover?
New FJ owns.

While at Ferrari I got to sample several of classic Land Rovers best from the 1980’s & 90’s. Either one is on my short list to buy at some point in my life. Each one was a manual transmission and they were a dream to drive. It’s no wonder why, even today, they still use them in places like Africa. It’s because they are reliable and dependable vehicles

if i'm an area where a rugged all terrain vehicle is necessary, and my ride shows up with any Land Rover product, my head would probably just default to "the Land Cruiser must be getting an oil change, that's why it's not here".

drive both. Tell me.

I have. An FJ Cruiser while at Lexus and several Land Rover Defenders while at Ferrari. To be honest I prefer the Defenders, because they are actual trucks as compared to the FJ Cruiser, which is an SUV. Keep in mind when a large portion of the Defenders were being manufactured, the term “S.U.V.” wasn’t even coined yet.

An FJ40 rides very similar to the classic Defenders, it’s bumpy but a hell of a good time

I owned a Series 3 LR and I regret giving it away. It’s terrible as a modern highway cruiser though

A new FJ is better than the YJ Wrangler or whatever it’s called.

Giving it away = selling it in an emergency because my brother destroyed my new Golf R

Nice! Well not the Golf R thing, that’s tragic. The Series 3 is a beauty!

We have a guy from England at my Filson thread who has one, and it’s mouthwatering

Jeep sold more Wranglers every year than Toyota sold FJ Cruisers during its entire run in the US. The people I know who bought one really liked them, but the looks were off-putting for a lot of people and they lacked the ability to remove the roof, which made them a non-starter for a lot of people.
