Hoarder or not at least he does drive most of his fleet. The Sultan of Brunei’s collection is mostly being left to rot.

My favorite was the Y2K Turbine powered Superbike

Sounds like an expensive upgrade. I’ve only seen that system once, and it was in a Scuderia.
I've seen them in cars like Muiras, which even when new had a propensity to have engine fires. I think it is pretty commonly done when they are being restored.

Aside from the small size of the fire extinguishers that people carry inside their cars, the real problem is that once someone opens the hood to use the extinguisher, they have just inadvertently increased the oxygen supply to the fire and then the fire becomes even more powerful. That's why a true fire suppression is the only way to save a car that catches on fire while being driven.

I would just get the f out, how much can a car worth relative to your life...
:fistbump:

Exactly, that's what insurance is for. Once a car catches on fire, unless you have a fire suppression system, or there is a fire truck passing by that can help you ...its basically a goner!

Depends on how bad the fire. But more convincingly, it can be useful for helping another driver.
Agreed, the extinguisher is basically to help another person.

As for how bad the fire is, how would anyone measure that? Once a fire is going and there is flammable liquid involved it grows pretty fast. Not to mention, in a modern mid engine or rear engine Porsche the engine areas aren't very accessible even if one opens the rear deck...so one would have limited access to even spray the contents of a fire extinguisher.

Not me, but my FIL insists on driving this Cutlass around town even though he has plenty of $$ and a perfectly good F150 in the garage

Because they are different greens, the green on the F40 being nice and the green on the Dino being vile.
Whether it looks good or not (subjectively speaking); one is a factory paint job (246 GTS) and the other is aftermarket (F40)

If you had only one car, you drove in winter conditions, and had $30k or less (USD) to blow, used or new, what would you have as a daily driver?

Include three reasons why you chose that car for your lifestyle. For me, it would have to be a Volvo V70R wagon.

- It's (relatively) fast
- It's a wagon that can be bought in manual transmission
- Volvo seats are comfortable for long road trips

GRB Subaru STi.

Because winter.
Engines like cold air.
Drives like a normal car in a blizzard.
