Matte BMW is bad but matte Audi would be worse. There are very few cara on which the matte effect works. None of them are plain Jane cars.

Yeah "plain jane cars" I agree however heavily modded cars can pull it off real well... I mean IMO this car looks fantastic.[IMG]

But with an RS6 grill, and my new HRE black wheels...

Nearly every car I've seen in matte black has been stunning. An audi suv and a ferrari. A few others I'm drawing a blank on now too.

Both are too flat to look good in matte IMO. Yes, a Ferrari looks okay in matte, but looks better in gloss. Middling German cars in matte wrap with a few appearance mods scream 'Chinatown multi level carpark'

The only few cars I've seen look good in flat colors are a) the SLR, b) the Aventador, c) the G-wagen (flat but tons of beveled edges)

honestly I prefer matte on bikes better. Even with the aventador, I'd rather an orange.

Porsche pulls off matte colors well too. I'm considering putting matte black vinyl on my Lexus, only ~$2k-$3k and it's removable.

Or I can just buy 6-10 cans of plasti-dip.

It's all about stance and aggressiveness for cars to pull of the matte look, I regularly see a completely standard matte black GTC and a SL with cream leather and both looks rubbish in matte, they need that I'm going kill you vibe that matte lambo's etc. have, but in general matte black cars look like crap and most of them would look a whole lot better in gloss paint or matte grey.

the M3 is 10 sec faster than the 997 base even when driven by Walter Rorehl, factory test driver
you can look them up yourself, since you don't 'trust' me, but since it is you who is fabricating data that is a hoot, I mean would you lie for internet cred? apparently so...

the e92 M3, according to many, has a better steering feel than a 997 due to it's balance, the 997 is tail happy and light on the front which does not add to feel

if you want a real 'sports car' a miata is a better choice

    I had 2 911's in various generations
the drivetrain loss via the driveshaft is minute compared to the trannt/diff/axles, I would be suprised if the difference is more than 1%, rototest.com will tell,,,rototest show the losses to be the same...
the M3's in the 90's that raced were production based as were the 911's, that is the rule

the rearward bias may help with launch, but with modern electronics/tires/gear boxes/diffs, etc., the cons outweight the pros, imo the cayman is a much better handling car, mid-engined, better balance..,

there is a reason that ferrari, lambo, BMW M, MB, etc., do not build their hipo cars with a rear engine, in fact only porsche does, and in the newer cars they are moving away from that...they designed the boxer/cayman with mid engine, the GT, their most expensive car, was mid-engined
    the reason is physics

he's the man...all the good drivers come from that area: Stuck and Von Saurma are no slouches
in fact Horst is always within a few seconds of Walter, sometimes faster!
