Looks great! I drove an FRS a while ago and had fun playing with it on back roads -to kill some time at the dealership while they worked on my car.

I remember when Chevy made the Cobalt SS with an S/C which had a monstrous 200hp.

Fastest car I owned was the car prior to my Volvo 240. Some sick person spent $30,000 sprucing up an old s10 blazer. I picked it up for $3,500 and drove it 4 hours home. It had a beautiful LT-1 in it from a corvette. Drove it for a bit and realize it's gonna kill me and I was getting tired of 8mpg around town.

    STOOK!!!!

Latest virtual dyno puts my car somewhere between 210-220. Getting EBC configured right now. Car feels slow because the boost ramp up is so linear. It's bizarre. VD at 170 felt faster because of the 'hit'.

I got a line on a 6 speed trans and a 3.6 rear diff (current is 4.3). 6 speed final gear isn't an overdrive so it revs higher at highway speeds which blows. I'm thinking of picking it up

Goals for the next year are:
Install 6 speed and 3.6 rear diff.
Potentially doing a 'rods only' engine build.

Given the fact that I really don't want to mess with other setups/turbos etc... The above setup should be good for 250-300. Likely 275ish maxed out before the turbo produces more heat than power because it's pushing too much air to be efficient.

Start using imgur... photobucket doesn't allow image posting unless you pay a stupid amount.

You should come drive mine. Drives like an NA car right now because EBC needs to be tuned and it takes like 1500 rpm to go from foot down to full boost. Should have it down to like 500-600 rpm with a bit of tuning. Car feels slow right now, which is a bit silly... I'm guessing that will change drastically when 10 psi comes up in a 1/3 the revs!

I'm pretty much at 2x stock power now, considering that stock is somewhere in the 110rwhp range. Stock motor is healthy and 5 speed seems quite happy. For now.

I went and did this though...

6 speed transmission. Deal was too good to pass up, i.e. i'll make 100-150 bucks if I turn around and sell it I think.

In any event, it's good up to like 350 or so rear wheel. My goal is obviously south of that. My turbo is probably unhappy north of 275 all else equal, so that's going to end up being 'high' boost. I'm hoping to set up EBC with 3 settings which can be flipped between with a switch in the cabin: high, low, and wastegate. So in the realm of 275, 220-230, and 170-180 psi respectively.

Can't do that on a stock motor sooooo planning to do a simple rods only build. Stock pistons are supposed to be good up to 300-350 wheel. So I'm likely going to take some time this winter and swapping in some forged rods. I feel like it's the most cost effective way to get more out of the setup. And honestly, 300+ hp in a car this small sounds absolutely stupid especially at this point. The BRZ above was said to be at 275 rwhp. That's just a little more 10 lbs per hp without driver. 275 in a miata will be less than 9.5 lbs/hp WITH driver.

I have parts on the way here to reroute the coolant for more even cooling to the engine. I also have an oil cooler standing by for install. Just need to order a thermostat plate.

Who was it that said that builds get away from you? So much for being budget conscious hahhaa.

    /end long poast
