Does anyone know what the reliability of 02 wrx variants is if they're relatively unmolested?

An automatic hatchback just popped up an hour away and it's got the same mileage as my impreza ts hatch.

Same body, but 60hp more in stock trim. I'm probably going to have this car for a while and something more fun would be pretty awesome if it isn't a money pit.

i have an 05, the 02/03 years are notorious for having glass transmissions but that is for the manual, not sure how the automatic is.

the turbo could be going depending on the mileage as well

About 130k miles on it.

I guess that all depends on how much the car was dropped into drive from neutral at 4k rpm...

I guess i can also wait and keep looking for one a few years younger as long as it's a bugeye hatch.

i'd ask for a record of maintenance performed

water pump/timing belt should be a given
the health of the suspenion
battery
intervals and which fluids used for motor/trans
spark plugs
brakes
recalls performed

a compression & leak test would save you a lot of heartache

overall they reach 170-200k all the time with proper maintenance and, as you said, a lack of 4k neutral dumps would help the transmission tremendously

That intermittent scraping sound from my rear driver side wheel came up again. Searched online and people suggested applying the parking brake while driving. Doing that fixed the issue it seems, so far. It must be a piece of rock or debris in the brake shield.

Then, today on the highway, my dash lit up with the DSC, brake, ABS, and TPMS lights. All in yellow.

I pulled over to the side and turned the ignition off. Restarted and then TPMS light disappeared but the other three were still lit. After google searching nothing definitive came up so I drove to get my codes read. As soon as I took off, all the lights disappeared.

Da fuq?
