Carry On Bags - Wheeled and Otherwise

Hi All,
What do you carry when travelling by air..as in carry on luggage..

I want to break away from the ubiquitous world of Tumi/Victorinox/Samsonite, etc, but I tell you, its not that simple.
I have been looking for about 6 months to replace my current Carry on and there are just too many compromises. Either too heavy, too large, too small..and with the airlines' ever constricting rules and regulations....

So..Let's see 'em!!

I guess I am looking for something wheeled and preferably, leather.
The Tumi, I have the Townhouse Eaton, which I had put up for sale sometime back, is just too "generic", if I may use that term..

I like the Knomo, a bit small and non-leather, but nice...

What about the Filson carry on? Any experience with it?? No reviews anywhere?

I carry an express shoulder bag (no wheels). It's quite deep but narrow so it can get tricky to pack with clothes and shoes, but I make it happen. Would love to get a new one soon.

I would take the Filson over the Mulholland. I have had Mullholland canvas/leather carry on and garment bags and had issues with both (zipper tore loose) after just a few trips, while my Filson bags all hang tough after several years of frequent travel. The Mulhollands are better looking, though, and may have improved by now. For ultra quality, look into Swaine, Adeney, and Briggs.

I did actually have the SAB in mind..but, I believe, it weighs like 2 tons or something..and besides, it's REEEEEEEEEEEALLYYYYY expensive!

I think about $800-1000 would be an absolute cap..
