X-post of the shoe care thread. And one of the reasons I love Carmina or good quality shoes.

Some suede care. My cousin bought the same pair of slippers as me but he is not a shoe care aficionado, so he has never gave them some care. Nothing. Not even brushing or using shoe trees. So when I posted last week how my shoes ended up after cleaning he asked me if I can clean his, so as a good shoe care aficionado I accepted. He thought they were ready to meet a new owner or the trash can. I told him he was crazy, I mean the lock stitch of the sole isn't even visible yet, they still have like 80% of their life. This is how they looked before:

So, the first thing I did was to put in shoe trees and I left them one full day so they return a bit bacj to shape. Then after brushing with a boarwith brass bristle brush I proceeded to remove the stains of the toe with the gommadin. Most of them went out easily (which I think that a regular brush after wearing will prevent that) but I still thought they needed a deeper cleaning. So I used Omnidaim and left them to dry another day with the shoe trees in. After that, I used the crepe brush to bring up the nap again and saw some dark spots so tried with Gommadin to take them out and worked perfectly. Then brushed aain with the boar/brass bristle brush and applied suede renovateur.

After that, I let it dry 15 minutes and brushed again with the boar/brass bristle. Then applied Nano Protector so if he spills something on his shoe, it doesn't get stucked. Brushed again and this is the final result, what do you think?

Good morning fellas!

I just received my first ever Carmina's from a special makeup done for Gentleman's Footwear in San Diego. They're really gorgeous and I have always been a sucker for the Alt Wien type of dress shoes. They're really comfortable I have to say and will go perfectly with my Chcolate Brown Donegal Tweed from Daks and some medium grey flannel dress pants from Ralph Lauren! Now, I ask myself how to care for them? What would you recommend for these Carmina Semi Brogue Derby (Alt Wien) in Brown Scotch Grain? What kind of care regime do these need and or scotch grain leather in general? They seem very very sturdy to me, but first impressions can always be deceiving. Here are some pictures! Gentleman's Footwear made the same shoe in a boot version too on a different last and I must say both of these are absolute shoe Appreciation for me. Carmina seems really great value/quality and that shop in San Diego has some really nice makeups.

One more question, does Carmina have a LWB type of in the manner of an Alden "gunboat" dress shoe in black? I looked on the website and the stock models selection was a bit meagre to say the least. If I were to go down the MTO route how would I do that?

Use the "customize" link on the web site. They have at least 2 models of LWB - the 80474 and 532. From there you can change the details to suit what you're looking for.

If the model you're looking for isn't in the customization tool, you can specify it in the comments (but I'd recommend following up with an email to confirm).

Ordered a pair in brown karagrain and received a dark brown cream polish and a small brush. The cream polish is branded Carmina, but I think it might be Famaco? The listed ingredients are the same and the jar/lid are identical and stack perfectly.
If you could show us some pictures of your Karangrein shoes, it would be informative and I would be very gratefull !

Here you are! The light is poor (they appear lighter and show more depth in daylight), but this shows off the texture well, I think. This is 80184 in brown Karangrain on the Oscar last with a Victoria sole, supposedly a chestnut edge and a storm welt.

As you can see the grain is uneven, which I like, and lighter, though still present on the toe. There is a small stain on the right shoe, but it takes a close eye, otherwise they are perfect. Good job @Carmina !
