Re: sizing, maybe just a little difference based on material, but calf will stretch/relax more than shell (which essentially does not). They end up in the same place in my experience, but the starting point is still pretty similar. I take the same size in all materials (including suede) and would not recommend changing.

Beautiful collection, thank you. I'm definitely buying a pair after seeing these. The only last that really works for me from carmina is Simposon. I also take the same size in suede and calf.

How long have you had each pair?

First pair: about a year.
Second: 3-4 years.
Third: 4 years.
Fourth: 1.5 years.

My time perception has been diluted by COVID, so don’t hold me to specifics.

Here are some natural light photos for everyone. Looking closer at these, I did find some wonkiness, but what does the experienced Carmina crowd here think? Some panels have some pretty distinct lines in them and the toe caps seem to have some pinching going on around the welt.

Nice sunny shots:

Nothing to worry about.

Especially the lines with different colouration are very common with lighter shell colours.

The variations in the color can happen with shell. I have a pair of whiskey Alden's with similar color variations on the shaft. The bubbling at the welt looks off, like maybe it was lasted too tightly. I saw that on a run of shell Vibergs too.

Have you sent Ioana a message ?

I just did this morning, I've been working with Brenda (who has been wonderful). Rumor is this is already a remake of a pair that didn't pass QC on their first attempt, so hopefully they can swing a third try at these.

And I totally get the variations in lighter colored shells, however these just seem a little excessive, like camouflage shell. My main concern though is the pinching around the welt, some even look like holes.

Variations in light colored shell panels are pretty natural, but I understand if the sudden color variations within the same panel are off putting.

Wow. Setting the bar very low…..
Well, actually the pictures with the "holes" or whatever those are weren't added yet when I typed in my response. I revoke my above statement, this doesn't look like something you should expect.
