Present arrived from @Carmina today. Custom 705 Chukka in Natural Gaucho Kudu, Oscar last, “caramello” dainite soles (metal tips my mistake for not unchecking that box since I switched this order from another leather combo). Thanks to Sara for making this possible. :)

Wanted something casual. This fits the bill well. No need to worry about scuffing these up.

Nice boots. Was there an up charge for the kudu?

Not at all. Same as standard leather choices.
Good to know. I’ve toyed with the idea of Kudu in the past. These may well have convinced me. Certainly look a nice casual boot. ?

What’s kudu like ? Stiff?
Definitely softer than boxcalf. Almost thick suede level of soft. It also has a natural elasticity which I find curious and enjoyable. Also lots of pull up in this shade. Should age very well.

Carmina split toe tassel loafers today. Bought very snug and just about breaking in. I think I’d size up a half size on anything that wasn’t a loafer in Forest.

Agreed, the instep is low. When being sized for a pair of oxfords I couldn't even get into a pair of shoes in my normal size.

If you are referring to Forest, I have the same issue but found that the EEE width is MUCH better.

I haven't tried the EEE width. I originally tried my normal size (8) but there was too much heel slip so settled on them in 7.5.

I'd love to do an MTO on some Calways, but I'm not sure I've tried enough of their lasts to judge what size I'd need.
