Hey guys... really tempted to get a pair of the Soller cordovan boots shipped over here. To Sydney. Do you know if Aussie customs will give me any crap re import taxes? Don’t mind paying extra fees, but don’t want my goods to be waiting in storage, while those rocket scientists mull over things ?

Good to see more Aussies on here. The $1000 AUD limit includes shipping and I've been stung recently with hitting the limit. They'll charge you $90 processing fee + 5% duty + 10% GST on of all of it. If you somehow manage to stay below the limit, you should be home and hosed.

I'm an Aussie in NYC. If anyone ever needs a proxy, I can do it for a nominal fee! The NYC boutique is great, too.

Yeah... I’m fine with them slapping on the taxes. Just don’t want those geniuses delaying my shipment. Took the plunge and bought the Sollers in burgundy cordovan anyway. Worth the pain of dealing with border farce AFAIC.

If you keep an active eye on the tracking (which, lets face it, we all do here), you can almost wipe out the delays. The only delay I’ve had is if it arrives on Friday or the weekend - it must be the B team on during the weekend in Customs, they’ll get around to it.
Good choice - Carmina does Cordovan very well.

If they nail the loafer last correctly, unlined shell is just as comfortable as any other unlined loafer material. CJ 376 is my favorite so far.

Aaaand it’s with Customs now based on the tracking. So I contacted them and was told tomorrow, they’ll let me know how much ransom to pay. Which is good, cause my boots will then likely arrive at the office just in time, while I’m there next week.
