Custom weekend 80105 in burgundy shell, black double rendenbach sole, black lining, Rain D last (the only Carmina last narrow enough for me). It was either that or Calways in pink seahorse, and I stand by my decision.

How did you get the black leather sole? Did you asked for it? was there an uncharge?

Asked for it in the notes. No charge. They always have to paint the sole with a brownish glaze, right, regardless of the edge color? Well this way they just paint the whole sole the same as the edge.

That's the first time I see a black sole on any Carmina. Utterly awesome.

I got the idea from a pair of black shell Grensons. They were black everywhere. I think black edge/sole goes really well with burgundy.

Two MTO pairs arrived today, and I couldn’t be more pleased. Here are the specs of both (comments redacted):

Overall impressions? Holy ****. Impeccable. The shoes are sublime, from the depth and suppleness of the leather, to the finishing details on the soles. I’m particularly fond of the derby’s JR soles with toe plates and full rubber heel (you can request this makeup in the comments and Carmina will execute it at no additional charge). Interestingly, while both are brown vegano, the derby is a darker, richer shade. It’s a very deep brown with slight hints of mahogany red). Here’s some pics (tried to capture indoor and outdoor lighting).

Wow, phenomenal. This will make everyone forget about all the "defective" shoe posts lately. I can't wait for mine to arrive. going on 32 business days.

Thanks, man. I honestly think that part of the problem with “late” orders is that Carmina promised them under 30 days. They created that expectation. Most high-end shoe makers take 60-90 or more days to make custom shoes. As I’ve said before, I ordered a pair of EG Galway boots back in OCTOBER OF 2019 and have yet to receive them.

Yeah, I am not worried at all. They will come and they will be beautiful. They are shell boots, so I won't be wearing them for a few months anyway.

I like the side by side of the two shoes they look very comparable.
