Is there any difference in fit between a monk and bal? Should I adjust size at all?
Those are navy shell.
I believe GF has had these for a whule.
Those monks you're looking at are beautiful. I'd find it very hard to not get them in the stock shell.
At any rate, if you know your size in the Rain last, it should be the same whether it's a monk or a bal.
Why am I reading that Rain fits similar to Simpson, when the rec has been to size Rain/Forest/Oscar the same and half size up for Simpson? I'm a 7.5UK in Oscar. I was told to do 7.5 in Rain/Forest, but size up for Simpson. I'd rather go wider if possible. I'm an 8D in Barrie.
I think @rydenfan said he goes 7.5UK for all his Carmina shoes (I'm sure minus the Simpson last, if he has that).
For me -
Barrie = 9.5 D
Rain = 9 UK
Simpson = 9.5 UK
I think the question is where are you reading this misinformation
Looking good SE!
I need those navy shell PTBs for myself!!! Hating myself right now for not participating on that MTO
I know this has been mentioned already few times but in my humble opinion, everyone feet & comfort level (or tolerance level) is different
I used to wear my shoes bit loose at first. Then I started to wear my shoes way too snug
Nowadays, I prefer bit of a room and dont mind too much about how uppers crease or bit of heel slip
Currently I wear...
Alden Aberdeen - 7 D US
Alden Barrie / Van - 6.5 D US
Carmina Rain - 6 UK (tho I have few 5.5 UK in Rain that I still wear)
Carmina Simpson - 6 UK (bit snug on me and 6,5 also fits me okay) but most of my customers seem to size up half for simpson
Carmina Detroit / Soller - 5.5 UK
Hope this helps
Or at least doesnt confuse you gents too much..
Is the Simpson last more elongated than the alcudia, or are they about the same?
Does anyone own Carminas in burgundy calf AND Vegano Marron (mid brown) calf and able to provide a comparison picture of both colors next to each other in the same picture? Trying to understand the red hue in the burgundy calf compared to the red tone in the Vegano Marron calf. I own the latter but have never seen the former in person. Thanks.
I have read some negative reviews of Carmina's hatch grain. Anyone have a positive experience? I am having trouble saying no to these boots for $395.
I don't know about the hatchgrain, but the scotchgrain is pretty phenomenal.
I have a pair of Carmina hatchgrain chukkas from Skoak. As reported around here, the leather seems to have difficulty holding the finish. Mine arrived with several spots where just the laces had left visible marks on the surface. Luckily, I knew about the issue before I ordered, so I wasn't freaked out. I also wanted them to be a bit darker, so I applied several layers of Glen Karen dark brown polish, which worked great. They still get some marks where there's friction, but brushing seems to take care of it, or I can just apply a little polish. As for those jumpers, at $395, you should go for it with your eyes open about the finishing on the leather and just plan to add some additional polish and touch them up as necessary. (Also, how are you getting them for $395?!)
Here are my chukkas as they were when they arrived.
Here they are after the Glen Karen treatment (with different laces).
Holy crap, those are nice. If I'm 9 UK in the Rain, can I fit into 8.5 UK in the Oscar? (Don't worry, I won't snipe them from you.)
Wow. I like them better, afterwards!
