How similar is Carmina's cognac compared to Alden's cigar?

Are they pretty much the same shade?

Carmina cognac has massive variation from batch to batch.
In general it's probably more Ravello-ish.

Agreed. I received a pair of Long Wings about a month ago and they are definitely closer to Ravello than Cigar. I was expecting Cigar when I originally ordered but color is actually very close to this: http://leathersoulhawaii.com/2010/07/23/alden-shoes-ravello-shortwing-lsw/

Hi. I am planning to buy a pair in burgundy. I am also looking at the rubi shell. Ruby looks a little too red in shade. Can someone help me with the ruby and burgundy shell side by side in natural light ?
I wear a simpson and they absolutely dont make a burgundy calf or shell in this last in their RTW. 50% upcharge looks too steep to me. Any help appreciated.
    Thanks

    Ayush

Does carminaa make different widths of the Simpson last? I tried on two Simpson shoes at a local boutique, and the salesman said one was narrower. He didn't know if the narrower one was the standard Simpson, or a more narrow Simpson...if that makes sense.

Anyways, the slimmer one fit better and I just want to clarify things if I order from carmina directly.

Do they ? I dont think so.. I called up Carmina the other day and asked them to help me with all the shoes they have in Simpson last in burgundy. She never mentioned anything about two different simpson lasts. Anyways AFAIK simpson is the narrowest last. The next I think comes the RAIN or ALCUDIA, almost similar to simpson. But definitely not as similar to be confused. There must be some kind of a misunderstanding.

The Simpson last does not come in different widths. The only Carmina lasts that are available in different widths are the Detroit, Rain and Forest lasts.

Speaking of Simpson (and I know there is a carmina sizing thread), does everyone go TTS with Simpson?

Simpson doesn't work for me at all. It is just too narrow for my foot.
Forest (and possibly Rain) is my go to last.

The toe box is noticeably roomier on the Forest vs. the Rain, making it perfect for people like me width a wider toe span.
