Not as dense as shell but it has a waxy finish that will stop too much snow/rain from soaking into the leather. 30 seconds of brushing chromexcel and you are good to go.

What size do you wear? Looks good on you. I've got.. four Uetam loafers.

And nice to see another Phoenix member.

Thanks gents, Mr. J I wear a 10UK in the uetam but 9.5 in most other Carmina lasts. Had to size up for their loafers, goes against what most recommend.

Some Carmina porn from the weekend. [IMG] The chromexel boots from Unipair are just killing me. If I didn't have a much greater need for a black dress boot, those would have been mine for sure.

I can't answer your question as I have no familiarity with Meermin and next to none with Loake. But be cautioned that the Inca and Simspon lasts are very different beasts - the former very wide, the latter very narrow. If one fits you well, it is very likely the other won't.

its loafer weather all year round here, maybe not at night or in the early mornings though. Still plenty warm right now. If only we had some better shops around here

At The Shoe Mart I was able to try on shoes on the "Rain," a wide last, and "Simpson," a narrow last, I believe- as said above- these really appear to be mutually exclusive options. I was able to get a very comfortable fit on the Rain but not on the Simpson. (I have a wide foot) I think if your foot is narrow go Simpson and, if wide, go Rain or Inca.

Does anyone have experience with the Uetam last vs. the Rain last? I really would love to get a pair of Carmina tassel loafers.

I wear the same size in Uetam that I wear in all other Carmina lasts. It is narrower, but needs to be because there are no laces to tighten the shoe.

Yep - I have a wide-ish foot with a tall-ish instep. Rain fits me very well. So does Inca. Uetam is too narrow for me. Not as hopelessly narrow as Simpson, but too narrow all the same.

Ugh. My fear. Uetam is a great looking last. I just think my feet aren't meant for loafers. The only really good fitting pair of loafers I have are on the Rain last--not something you would put tassels on.

I wear both Simpson and Rain comfortably. I just go a half size up on Simpson.

Rain isn't good if you have a low instep (like me). Lot's of creasing. Best options are Phila and Simpson.

Do you usually wear "E" or "D" width shoes?

I also wear Rain and Simpson comfortably, half size up for the Simpson last. I usually wear D width shoes, Simpson looks similar to the Rain but is not as elongated.

Thanks for the post. Out of the hundreds that I've read, nobody ever stated it like this.
