This may help some considering Oscar or Forest. Acknowledging that the leathers are entirely different, these fit and look almost identical to me. The cordovan derby and suede NST are on the Forest last and the boot is on the Oscar last.

I usually wear rain as it accommodates a high instep and big toe space. Tried forest and it was a good fit but a bit tight on the side of my big toes.

You might consider forest eee. I had similar issues with the normal width and found the eee to be much better for me.

Anyone have any examples of Rain last worn casually (ie. Denim and/or khakis).

All my Carninas are rain. One thing I will say, is that material and style make a huge difference. The jumpers are hard to pull off with jeans. They’re surprisingly formal looking. Also , the blue suede loafers also look very formal but the vegano brown loafers look more casual.

Hey all, quick question. For those that have sized up half from your standard UK size on the Simpson, how do you feel about the length? Does it bother you? I'm not sure if a brown suede chelsea in Rain or Simpson would be best for me. I have the rain last captoe oxford and they fit me okay.

Thank you very much, gentlemen. Super helpful. To add more detail, I'm debating a color 4 shell makeup of the 973, similar to the below. Seems it might skew too formal for denim/chinos?

Those are absolutely beautiful and yes I think they will work perfectly with casual trousers or denim.

These are two other examples ot Rain with casual trousers

Those are gorgeous and I absolutely think they will work well with jeans and chinos. I have a few pairs of rain shoes and wear them with chinos. I occasionally wear them with jeans as well. A lot depends on overall outfit as well. I wouldn't wear them with jeans and a work shirt, but a nice OCBD, yes.

For what it is worth, I have rain polo suede double monks, tan wingtip oxfords, and polo suede wingtip oxfords.

So I have a pair of those exact 973s in cognac shell from 5-6 years back. They can be worn with jeans - if done a certain way (you’re going for a certain European sharp casual look). I think you’d have a great boot there in color 4. Thought about a rain last jumper in color 4 but went with Oscar as I know what I’ll be getting.

Nice shades of colors !
So chestnut edge looks like this. Thanks for the pictures !

You're welcome! Glad to be of some help.

Wearing mine today. They were my grail dress boot for a very long time until a pair popped up online from 2013 with almost no wear on the soles and easily reconditioned shell. They don't get out much due to nonexistent suit/formal needs but I still swoon every time I pull them out of the box.

What the heart wants may not be the practical selection. ? As a side note, I'd love to see how your cognac boots are looking now. The older cognac was sharp!

I have a feeling they're going to be more difficult for me to wear than I'd prefer.

So which Carmina make-ups have you guys found are your most used for casual wear - with jeans and chinos etc.

I love Carmina shoes but find the general sleekness of lasts make me wear them less than other shoes when I’m dressing casual. Which is most of time.

For Colour 4 GMTO looking for a boot that will solve this. What Carmina do you most often reach for on weekends?
