I have a pair of navy shell carminas, the wholecut model. They got pretty wet recently...I wiped them dry with a rag the moment i could...later put on some renovateur and brushed them. They look even more lustrous and possibly better now. But I am sure they would be fucked if I waded through flooded streets in them.

How is the creasing/rolling on those navy shell wholecuts? I've been eyeing those for quite a while. :D

I hope your size is UK10 as that seems to be the only size available on the e-shop.

I find the creasing on mine quite natural...nothing untoward or unsightly. But I think with shell the snugger the fit, the more the creases.

    I'm a reliable US9D.

For my navy wholecuts I sized down by a half to UK8.5 for a really comfortable fit and I find the creasing to be not really an issue.

However for my shell single monks I sized down by a full size to UK8 and because they fit a lot snugger, I found the creasing to be far far more pronounced and noticeable. This has since been temporarily remedied by sending them for stretching, giving them the renovateur treatment and having shoe trees tight up their wazoo for the longest time. But I will be keeping a close eye on them.

Being considered rugged, durable, material, able to withstand the elements doesn't mean that it's going to look good all the time. One wouldn't wear dress shoes in a storm anyway so I don't understand this logic.

i.e. don't get your dress shoes made of shell.

It's a good choice for casual and rugged shoes. Boots, chunky brogues etc etc that don't need to look gleaming all the time.

Which is ironic because many people get footwear made from shell for this specific gleam.

Do both the MA and BK store carry the same selection of Carmina? If not, which location has a better variety?
