Hi Gents,

I am in need of some advice. I have been playing around with Carmina's Customizing tool for a pair of work boots.

I settled on:
- Work Boots 80184/80223 (Soller last as I have wide feet)
- Burgundy Cordovan

What I have not settled:
- JR Soles (I want the luxury of leather soles but also durability) or Victoria soles? I live in a humid climate so would like advice on this as well - Are Victoria soles the more practical choice?
- Frankenstitch or traditional stitching? I am leaning towards JR soles and I thought pairing them with the Frankenstitch would be a nice whimsical touch.

Settings I will be wearing them in:
- in the office, in a business casual/ casual setting
- out and about (bars, dinners)
- lots of walking while traveling (Think Tokyo, Seoul, States)

Hi All...they are finally here and wanted to share! After much deliberation both on forum and off, I settled on 80184 Soller workboots in a dark burgundy shell. The storm welting and general silhouette lends both a ruggedness and dressy look. I understand Carmina has had some workmanship issues. I do see some finishing problems at the welt areas but not sure if common or to be expected for a boot like this. Curious on your thoughts! Overall, quite happy with them.

Really nice boots.

The Soller last is a classic round toe last with ample toe space?

Enjoy your sunday and best regards

Those look like a lovely pair of boots.
I don't see any major issues. Enjoy them!

I find the Oscar last is asleep relatively narrow that is a definite D width in American measure. The last is nice overall but tight fiting. Where I can only wear thin socks. I think the sollar last may be better for those who like a more looser fit

Sure, here are some pics from when I first got them. Lighting not the best but you'll get the idea.

The suede won't be a problem in rain -- they are mostly covered by pants leg and I spray them with invulner/water repellant. However I typically don't wear these if rain is in the forecast as the shell sometimes develops water spots.

This Galway-type derby boots looks great. I am on the search for a Galway-type boot as well, in smooth calf-leather and suede.

Which one from Carmina can be recommended? I mostly found boots iin grain and cordovan on their webside.

Best regards

Another last question:

The "Rain" and "Inca" lasts I could try in Paris, and they fitted comfortably, not to loose and ample toe space, in UK 7.

The last "Baltix" and "Simpson" were not available, but are also more elegant lasts. Would they fit a slimmer medium foot with a lower instep and forefoot also well if the aforementioned lasts already fit me well?

In particular the balomoral boots on the "Rain" last, and the balmoral single-monk in black on the "Baltix" last with JR soles look great and interest me. A dark grey oxford on the "Simpson" last is also very stylish.

Best regards

You're correct most of their "Calways" models incorporate cordovan or grain. The beauty of Carmina is you can customize your own design with nearly unlimited options via their 3D customization tool. Free customization weekend usually rolls around in April when you can get a fully customized pair at retail price.
