Don't want to derail, but quite surprised by how popular Carmina brand has become. I was not impressed with what I saw in person on the trip to Spain.

They certainly have become all the rage - - I'll have to reserve judgment until I can see them in person.

From what I've been reading, it seems the reputation is based on the price and the "enhanced" quality. Quite a few people have posted here that they'd rather get three pair of Carmina versus one pair of Lobb's or EGs. I can understand that logic - it doesnt necessrily mean they think Carmina's are "better" or even "equal."

Have you seen the pics in the OP's post or those available on The Armoury's web site? That's why they're so popular. And from personal experience, they compare favorably with many of the more expensive shoes in my rotation.

for the pricing, hard to beat. they do cordovan very well as well as suede. the finishing on some of their shoes are better than others.

if anyone finds the factory store, let me know. it's supposedly in Inca.

There is an address for a Carmina store on Mallorca in Palma. So are there actually two shops on Mallorca: a retail shop at Palma and a Factory shop at Inca? Trying to see if I can get someone in Barcelona to scout ahead for me . . .

I have been to and purchased shoes from the Carmina store in Palma. That is a regular store. There is the Carmina factory in Inca. I tried to find that without success. I called ahead to verify that it was open the day I went to visit and they were expecting me. Could not find it.

The factory OUTLET supposedly closed, but the factory (definitely exists) and factory store still exists (supposedly).

Gotcha. So are shoes even available for sale at the factory since the outlet closed? Discounted? Seconds? Thanks for the info . . .just wondering if its even worth the $17 trip on RyanAir from Barca to Palma if I can get them at the same price in Barcelona . . .

this is a joke, right? $17 from Barca to Palma, you take that flight as fast and frequently as possible.

Based on the photos of Carmina on SF, I'd only be interested in a very few models.
I'd rather go to Vienna, where I've already bought RTW, and explore the alternatives
    under Fritzl's guidance.

They've been popular on SF and other forums for a while now, but they faded from view when various sources, such as Sky Valet in DC, stopped carrying them. They've entered the spotlight again recently due to increased availability.

Strange that you weren't impressed by them. I was when I saw them at Sky Valet a few years ago. You might not have liked them in part because, IIRC, their shoes in Spain are reportedly not as nice (in terms of selection, and most importantly, last types) as the ones in Paris or elsewhere.

They used to also be sold at Saks, which was huge.

M - to my understanding (and i've been to Carmina stores in Europe) - the shoes in Spain and Paris are the same. Paris just charges more because everything is more expensive there.
