Carlos Santos Sizing

Comrades. As a new member of the party I would like to call upon your advice.

With a foot 30cm in length and a circumference of 28cm at the ball of my foot what could be the best size to try for Carlos Santos shoes (in the 401 last).

Any advice is much appreciated.

what is the sizing for Carlos Santos. I am planning to buy it on eBay. I wear 10.5. D in Allen edmonds. And was planning on getting same size in Carlos Santos as well. Shipping is too high so trying to be careful.
carlos Santos is not easily avails in USA outside EBay.

Sizing is dependent upon shoe type (boot vs loafer vs oxford vs blucher) and last. It helps to mention which Carlos Santos you're interested in, and which Allen Edmond you have (as both CS and AE have narrow and wide lasts among their products).

Although I believe he no longer sells CS, Patrik Löf (a.k.a "Leaves") of affiliate, Skoaktiebolaget, posts a fairly comprehensive, comparative-sizing resource on his site: https://www.skoaktiebolaget.com/pages/last-comparisons. A variety of vendors are listed, including CS and AE.

In the US, a cursory search reveals that CS has a vendor in Philadelphia. (As CS is no longer a SF affiliate, I don't believe I should link to their store locator, but a simple google search should help you find what you're looking for.) You may also want to search the forum here as there are a variety of CS sizing posts.

The 401 replaced the 234 last. Similar in dimension, but apparently slightly narrower in the toe- cap. It is considered to be fairly narrow (subjective), similar to Carmina's rain.

There's a good deal of discussion re: CS lasts on the forum. The general consensus is to go down 1/2 to one size.

I don’t own any AE so can’t make a direct comparison, but my size is pretty much textbook 9.5D, and my two pairs of 9.5D Carlos Santos cap toe oxfords run true to size. Both of mine are built on the same last, 234, so I can’t comment on sizing in their other models.

Beautifully made shoes, by the way. I rarely wear anything else since I got them.
