I'm a little clueless on what to bring for dining out and nightlife. Other times I've gone to warm locations for vacation, it has either been for adventure, or in my pre-SF days, so who knows what I wore.

- For daytime, I have several preppy RL/JCrew shorts and polos. Bathing suits, t-shirts, etc.

- For footwear, I have two flip flops and some tan brown Topsiders.

- I plan on bringing some jeans, sneakers, light tan blazer, etc. for casual nights at bars.

- I am clueless on dining and nights out. I don't really have a lot of summer-weight clothing. Most of my slacks are dark. I don't know if I need to bring nice leather shoes or not.

All my friends and I are in our early-to-mid 20s. I don't want to overdress. I'm only even fretting because I know a few of the girls are bringing nice dresses so I don't want to stick out.

I know common sense says linen pants, linen shirts (not necessarily together), etc. Haven't found anything slim-fitting and nice when I looked around NY earlier today. At worst, I can wear my nice jeans and a polo out, with sneakers I guess? Ugh. Help me.

Seriously, don't worry about it - you are in your 20's going to the caribbean. Slim fit cotton pants, a bathing suit, some linen or polo shirts, and some Jack Purcells should do it. Oh, and sunglasses. If you are going out and you need a suit, pick up something cotton from H&M, J. Crew, etc., since you will probably ruin it with a late-night drunken swim in the ocean. That's what happened to my first linen suit, may it rest in peace. Damn you, Eleuthera, damn you to hell . . . .

Thanks for the clever reply!

Some more info - it's Aruba and I hear it's pretty casual in general.

Ok, I've decided I need one pair of linen pants and one linen shirt, and some driving mocs.

Any tips on stores that would carry slim-fit linen shirts? Or not-too-baggy linen pants? I will be around the Costa Mesa mall tomorrow, which has every store/brand under the sun, so let me know if you have any suggestions. Thanks.

make sure to hit up the kukukunuku tour - won't matter what you are wearing for some sex on the bus!

The best linen shirts I've seen that are slim are Truzzi ... I had a white one that was just outstanding.

Thanks. Not sure who carries Truzzi though, I haven't seen it around. And don't they retail for close to $400?

Ummm, well at full retail, yes ...

You can often find people selling them in the B&S forum though, and I've seen them online/eBay for $100-ish.

I gotcha. Unfortunately I have about one shopping day to get this finished and was hoping there was a more reasonably priced brand out there. If I had time I would definitely just go custom.

Most people will be very casual but you can look a bit more stylish with some simple things

-white jeans
-white linen shirt
-driving mocs
-one navy and one white polo shirt

The white shirts with jeans will show off your tan and look cool. Toss on a tan jacket and you will look pretty sharp.

The nay polo/white jean look is a classy resort look but still relaxed and casual

Get some cool sunglasses.

Have fun

Excellent advice. Thank you. Did you mean blue jeans with a white shirt and tan jacket, or white jeans? Is white on white overdoing it?

What about khakis/chinos instead of jeans? Jcrew has some lightweight ones in their new catalog.
