I currently don't own a cardigan but I'm considering this one from Ralph Lauren. I'm wondering what I should wear underneath it when sporting a pair of jeans (would it even work with jeans?). I'd prefer a more casual look, meaning no tie. Also, please advise on proper footwear!

that's a nice one. You can wear buttondown collar shirts, polo shirts, tshirts, lightweight turtlenecks...pretty much anything you'd wear a sportjacket with since cardigans are kinda like the new sportjacket, esp with how $$$ some've gotten. That particular grey is cool because you can wear bright colors with it or tone it down with white/black and it all looks good. the perfect neutral palette to amp up or tone down as you desire. and looks awesome with dark denim.

footwear.....options are wide open. Boots, loafers, wingtips, converse allstar...lots of possibilities depending on the look you're aiming for that day. just no dunks

I saw the most beautiful crdigan that I have ever come across yesterday at Neiman Marcus. It was a Thom Browne black, cream and grey arglye. Unfotunately, they wanted 3500 for it

That's a nice cardigan. I still like how GS was rockin' his Gap one a few days ago under his Agnes B shirt.

It's amazing how astronomical Thom Browne's pricing has become in the past year. I used to think 2000 for a sweater, $5000 for a suit were ridiculously high.....now I see suits advertised for 5,000 GBP(!!!!) and $3500 for a sweater, all topped off with $600 mittens.

Soem of the stuff is very nice, but all of it is overpriced. Not crazy about the thermal underwear.

Take a look at the official cardigan thread, I posted a sick ndg one I want. Thom Browne is a con artist pure and simple. I detest him and his extortionate unjustified pricing structure.

totally. I like a lot of TB's stuff but he's a classic case of "The Emperor's New Clothes"....people need to quit being stupid and buying his overpriced ****. At the rate his prices are climbing his Brooks line next year is going to be $2000 sweaters and that'll be considered a bargain. But as long as those fashionistas that buy him exist....

White button-down oxford will do you well.

I have a simple black cardigan. I usually wear it with a white oxford style shirt, a western styled shirt, a RL polo, an AA henley or an AA tshirt.

I like to do striped contrasting L/S t-shirts under cardigans.

Black cardigan with black/gray striped APC/H&M-style tee underneath.

Light gray cardigan with gray and teal blue thin-striped tee.

Collared shirts are also hard to go wrong with.
