So I had an exam this morning at 8AM and had about 2.5 hours of sleep before it. I went to bed around 1. My mind goes into overdrive thinking about random stupid bullshit as soon as I lie down.

I don't worry about exams, but the exact same thing happens to me the night before flying out or going on a road trip.

Happens to me all the time. ******* sucks when it does. Travel or jet lag usually sets it off. But an upcoming stressful event, in and of itself, can also prevent sleep.

Ambien is not the ideal solution, but it's what I do.

Happens to me all the time before a test back in college or before a meetting at work. It also happens when I have to wake up early even to leave for a trip or go to an event. What I usually do is put on some headphones and some jazz music and helps me get to sleep.

Take an otc sleeping pill. There's one that's the "PM" part of Tylenol PM (no Tylenol). It worked really well for me when I needed sleeping pills without a prescription. Just make sure you take it about nine hours before you need to get up, or you'll be groggy as **** come test time.

Same thing happens to me after a particularly raucous weekend. But being a zombie at work on Monday is kind of a blessing in disguise. Once you snap out of it, it's Tuesday!

Have a drink then have some sex. A good night's sleep is assured.

i can't sleep if there's anything outside of my normal schedule the following morning. haircut, meeting, whatever....if it's outside of the norm, it keeps me up. 2 shots of bourbon and the pandora "spa" channel help immensely.
